SHINING A LIGHT ON SARCOMA

Fundraise for Us

Almost everything we do is paid for by people who decided to do something. A walk, a picnic, a raffle, a marathon, a line-dancing class — the money raised by our supporters is what funds counselling, grants, support groups and our Support Line.

Whatever you have in mind, we will help you make it happen.

Our Campaigns — Join In

The Big Yellow Picnic (July) – host your own picnic, coffee morning or garden get-together during Sarcoma Awareness Month. Register and we will send you a free picnic pack with tablecloths, plates and decorations.

Seeds for Sarcoma (summer) – plant sunflowers as a symbol of hope and solidarity. Every pack of seeds bought helps fund our services.

Steps for Strength (June) – walk 50km over the month, on your own, with friends or as a team.

The Sunflower Ball (autumn) – our flagship annual event, an evening of music, dancing and community. The 2025 ball raised €14,258.

Camino de Santiago Walk (September) – seven nights walking one of the world’s great pilgrimage routes alongside patients, survivors, carers and supporters.

Sunflower Spooktacular (October) – fancy dress, a DJ, a raffle and dancing till late.

Do Your Own Thing

Some of our most successful fundraisers began as somebody’s idea on a kitchen table. Recent examples include a memorial 5km run, a French boules tournament, a ukulele group concert, a garden opened to the public for two days, a CrossFit team challenge, marathon and half-marathon runs, and a fundraising raffle.

Ideas that work well:

  • A coffee morning, quiz night, table quiz or bake sale
  • A sponsored walk, run, cycle, swim or climb
  • Give something up — or take something on — for a month
  • A raffle, auction or fashion show
  • Dedicating a birthday, anniversary or wedding to the charity
  • A workplace dress-down day, or asking your employer about matched giving
  • Donations in memory of a loved one, in lieu of flowers

How to Get Started

  • Email info@sarcoma.ie and tell us what you are planning.
  • We will send you a fundraising pack — T-shirts, balloons, collection materials, posters and our logo.
  • Set up an online fundraising page at idonate.ie/cause/SarcomaCancerIreland so people can sponsor you easily.
  • Let us know the date and we will help promote it across our social media channels.
  • Send us photos afterwards. We love sharing what our supporters get up to.

Fundraising Safely

If you are collecting cash in a public place you may need a permit from your local Garda station, and we can advise on this. Please make it clear on all materials that you are fundraising “in aid of Sarcoma Cancer Ireland”. If you are unsure about anything — insurance, permits, food safety at an event — ask us before you start rather than afterwards.

Where the Money Goes

Straight into services. In 2024, €30,000 went directly to patients as €500 grants. The rest funds counselling, support group facilitation, our Support Line, awareness campaigns and the GP education programme. Our full financial breakdown is published each year in our Annual Report.

Thank You

To everyone who has fundraised, donated, volunteered or supported us: thank you. You are the reason this charity can do what it does.
