Our Mission, Vision & Values
A future where every person with sarcoma in Ireland feels supported, informed, and never alone.
Our Vision
We want to improve outcomes and experiences for sarcoma patients and their families throughout Ireland, through education, advocacy and support:
Education – increasing awareness of sarcoma symptoms to allow for earlier diagnosis, which in turn improves survival rates.
Advocacy – ensuring clear pathways exist from diagnosis to treatment, and that no sarcoma patient is lost in the system.
Support – providing financial and emotional support to patients and carers as they navigate their treatment journey.
Our Mission
Sarcoma Cancer Ireland is dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by sarcoma through emotional, practical and financial support, while raising awareness and advocating for better care.
In practice, that means:
Education – improving outcomes through earlier diagnosis by raising public awareness of the signs and symptoms of sarcoma, and raising awareness within the healthcare community so that clinicians ask “could this be sarcoma?”
Advocacy – representing the voice of sarcoma patients at national and international level, and putting lived patient and family experience at the front and centre of our work.
Support – lightening the burden of a sarcoma diagnosis through psychosocial and financial support, and reducing isolation by connecting the sarcoma community in Ireland with each other and with trusted resources.
Our Values
Our values guide everything we do for those affected by sarcoma. We are committed to:
Compassion – placing the needs of patients and families at the heart of our work, offering understanding, support and hope.
Integrity – acting with honesty, transparency and accountability in all our activities, ensuring trust in our community and among our supporters.
Determination – facing challenges with resilience and optimism, striving to make a meaningful difference every day.
Innovation – supporting research and embracing new ideas to improve outcomes for those affected by sarcoma.
Collaboration – working together with patients, healthcare professionals, researchers and other charities to maximise our impact.
Inclusivity – welcoming and respecting everyone, regardless of background, and ensuring our services are accessible to all.
Public Benefit
As a registered charity, we deliver clear public benefit by providing free counselling and peer support, awarding financial grants so that hardship does not stand between a patient and their treatment, running support groups online and in person, and leading awareness and education work that increases early detection and improves referrals across Ireland.
